"Well, I won a tournament
already," he said. "I think I'm headed in the right direction. I went
through this in 2000. I didn't win for a couple of months and the word 'slump'
came about."
What is unfortunate is Woods' performance
and tantrums overshadow what he's trying to accomplish off the course — not the
behavior that ended his marriage, but the ambitious projects of the Tiger Woods
Foundation.

finished tied for 40th twice and missed a cut. There also were his infamous

The programs seek to raise the educational achievements of students in grades
five through 12.
In 2000, a long time ago in golf years,
each week it was Tiger against the field, and taking Woods was a pretty good
bet.
"That's the nature of the business, of
the 24-hour news cycle," Woods said. "You've got to stand out to get
